Session presented on Friday, September 26, 2014: In this poster presentation, Xi Lambda Chapter, located at the University of Manitoba, College of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, highlights its achievements over the past 20 years to celebrate its anniversary. The poster was displayed at our 20th anniversary celebration on May 22, 2014 and will be displayed permanently in the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing, University of Manitoba. Ten past presidents, greetings from a charter member, a congratulatory letter from STTI President and Chief Executive Officer, and key citizenship activities such as community outreach are displayed on the colourful and eye-catching poster. Additionally, photographs of member volunteerism in the local community and pictures of chapter leaders at STTI conferences are depicted in the center of the poster. We gratefully acknowledge the stellar work of Natasha Basova, a member of Xi Lambda chapter and undergraduate student in the College of Nursing, University of Manitoba, who designed this poster presentation. In 1994, Xi Lambda Chapter was formed with 175 charter members and this inaugeral group was photographed at the University of Manitoba and its picture is displayed prominently on the poster. For the past 20 years, 521 members have been recruited into our chapter. Xi Lambda Chapter provides an annual $2000 research award to a member through an application process. In this way, we support nursing scholarship. Additionally, the chapter holds a successful, annual fundraiser entitled, "Pasta with a Purpose." Funds raised support the annual Xi Lambda Chapter research award and various local charities. For example, in 2014, Elsie Duff received the research award for a study entitled, "Newly practicing nurse practitioners perceptions of structural empowerment in education, psychological empowerment, role competency, and patient safety" competence. Furthermore, Xi Lambda Chapter is committed to supporting local charities in an effort to promote health equity among vulnerable groups. For example, we have supported Winnipeg Harvest (a local food bank), the Boys and Girls Club, Rossbrook House, and Siloam Mission.en
