dc.description.abstract |
This mixed-methods study combined biomarker indicators, cognitive rehearsal, and clinical simulation to assess newly graduated nurse's ability to address workplace incivility so that patient safety is protected. Despite instruction, practice, and an expressed level of confidence, participants were unable to effectively respond to an uncivil coworker encounter. Participants identified communication challenges during the hand-off report which caused confusion and incomplete patient assessment information. Recommendations include longer and more frequent cognitive rehearsal training and practice sessions.
| en |
